MIT Business in Gaming 2013
MITBIG is an annual conference that focuses on the business side of the gaming industry. Our aim is to bring together industry professionals, local entrepreneurs and students to share insights and best business practices on how to run a gaming company, and how to make good games with it. QUILTBAG Jam
Game jams -- meetup events where people off all stripes and disciplines come together to create games -- are a long tradition here at the MIT Game Lab. Last year, we held the first ever "Gayme Jam," where we focused on creating games dealing with queer issues and ideas. This year, we're doing it again but under a new name: the QUILTBAG Jam at MIT is your opportunity to meet new people, explore game design ideas, and have a tremendous amount of fun in the process. The event is open to everyone of every sexuality, gender identity, and field of interest, whether you're an artist, a writer, a hardcore programmer, or simply someone who likes games.

GAME DEVELOPMENT FOR SOFTWARE ENGINEERS
Week-long workshop offered through MIT's Short Programs.
COURSE SUMMARY
Digital games pose greater challenges than business software projects of similar scope due to complexities in prototyping, testing, and platform variability. Game developers are thus required to exercise more flexibility in software specifications and functionality. Professionals have to modify their approaches to design and team management while keeping abreast of broad changes to technology such as cloud computing, mobility, and tools.
